The Big Band Club has been delighting Montreal audiences for more than 50 years entertaining listeners and dancers alike with a variety of popular pieces and songs that marked the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and even more recent years.
Today, the orchestra is more popular than ever as it reminds many of the wonderful melodies and sounds unique to those times. It is also aimed at younger people who have rarely had the chance to hear and see a “Big Band” live.
The 18-piece band consists of 4 trumpets, 5 saxophones, 4 trombones and a rhythm section including piano, bass, guitar and drums, and our singer Nathalie Albert. The arrangements offer an outstanding variety, whether swing, latin or ballad style pieces.
The band plays the music of Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Billy May, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Henry Mancini, Billy Joel, Paul Simon and many others.
Younger audiences, accustomed to loud, distorted guitar sounds and exaggerated bass notes, are always surprised to find that they enjoy listening to the music of the Big Band Club and begin to discover new musical roots.
